Add Health Media

THE DOCTOR invests in the Corona report – and the first results are now here!

2020/04/03

Add Health Media runs one of the country’s largest private medicine and health sites, DOKTORN and has now chosen to start the Corona report. The aim is to collect as much data as possible from citizens to get an indication of how coronary heart disease spreads, who is affected and which symptoms are most common. The corona report is presented weekly at www.doktorn.com

– Since the start of the ongoing corona pandemic, we have seen an increased need for information and knowledge about coronavirus and the disease covid-19. This has led to one million Swedes visiting some of our articles on the subject for two months, which is a record. At the same time as the usual activities and visitor traffic roll on, we therefore work hard to meet this need for relevant and correct information, says Anders Åker, editor-in-chief and medical journalist at DOKTORN.

Now Add Health Media chooses to further deepen its mission with the help of the Corona report.

– The coronary report is an ongoing online survey where we can use data to see how the infection spreads both nationally and at the regional level, which are affected and which symptoms are most common. The more answers we get, the more knowledge we get and can at the same time compare with data from other sources to see how they correlate.

The public can contribute to strengthening the state of knowledge by filling in the questionnaire and the results are presented every week.

– We have consulted authorities and experts in the preparation of this report. Even if the target group is not randomly selected based on the average population and is based on your own estimate of whether you have or have had covid-19, the Corona report can give us an indication of what the situation looks like in the country as there is a lot of talk about dark numbers. At the same time, we closely follow the figures produced by the authorities. Everyone can do something and this is Add Health Media’s contribution in a very serious situation.

The results from the first report have now been published and show clear results and trends. They also ask questions about drug treatment and in what way the citizens have chosen to seek care.

– I have worked with this for ten years and seen both bird and swine flu pass and everything indicates that we will have to state that covid-19 is something we need to live with, albeit not in the extreme form that arises in connection with a pandemic. Every year, for example, millions of people around the world are affected by seasonal flu, and there we have learned a lot, in the same way that the corona pandemic teaches us a lot every day. The hope is that the Corona report will become part of the knowledge-bearing tool, says Anders Åker.

The collection of data has been carried out via information banners on Doktorn.com, Aftonbladet.se, SvD.se and Omni.se which reach 80 – 90 percent of the Swedish population. Feel free to help us on the way to more knowledge about Corona – fill in the questionnaire here . If you filled in earlier but have become ill since then, you can fill in the questionnaire again.
