The need for continuing education for doctors is great and Praktisk Medicin is one of Sweden’s largest platforms for information and continuing education for doctors and other healthcare professionals. Several new educations will now be launched during the autumn, one of which will focus on anemia.
PraktiskMedicin.se is visited by 370,000 unique visitors every month, the majority of whom are healthcare staff. Many doctors use the training platform PM Academy, where more than 15,000 training courses have been completed in the past two years. Education in anemia is now being launched, where PM Academy has collaborated with assistant chief physician Christian Kjellander at the medical clinic, St Göran’s Hospital.
– Patients with anemia are a common group of patients and therefore it is important that the latest findings are disseminated to the medical profession. Praktisk Medicin’s new education in anemia gives doctors important information that I think many do not know today, says Christian Kjellander.
The education is designed to inspire and motivate learning by using questions and answers where the doctor is challenged with patient cases interspersed with factual questions. The training has been deliberately done so that it only takes about 10 minutes to complete, but that the transfer of knowledge becomes effective when there are interactions.
Recently, Praktisk Medicin opened up training platforms throughout the Nordic region, and statistics from Norway show that the interest from healthcare staff was above expectations and had more completed training than Sweden.
– The doctors who have completed training fill in questionnaires afterwards and 85-95 percent believe that the training has helped them in their clinical everyday life and over 90 percent would like to do more training and recommend it to their colleagues. More trained care staff increases patient safety in care. We know that doctors, nurses and other healthcare staff are facing a stressful autumn and have therefore adapted and produced these educations that are of high quality while they can be completed in a short time, says Johan Bloom, editor of Praktisk Medicin.
