Doctor Sofia Åkerlund will be the new editor-in-chief of PM

2021/03/02

PraktiskMedicin.se (PM), which is one of Sweden’s most visited websites for doctors, gets a new editor-in-chief. PM has since 1976 trained and supported doctors with information on how they can treat their patients and today there are 1,000 treatment overviews and most trainings for doctors.

Sofia Åkerlund is a licensed doctor and has worked as an ST doctor in dermatology in the Jönköping Region. She has also studied psychology at Karolinska Institutet and researched in cardiology and physiology at Duke University, North Carolina. Sofia takes over from internal medicine Jessica Frykstedt.

– I look forward to spreading knowledge and making it easy for doctors to find the knowledge when they need it. The focus going forward will be to strengthen the medical team and create more interactive educations that we have seen are very popular, says doctor Sofia Åkerlund, editor-in-chief of Praktisk Medicin.

PM has developed and today has 370,000 unique visitors a month. A large proportion of the doctors who use PM visitors on a daily basis as support in their clinical work.

– I am very happy that Sofia has chosen to work with us to continue to develop PM both in Sweden, but also our Nordic educations that have received a very positive response from doctors in our Nordic neighbors, says Johan Bloom, CEO of Add Health Media.

In 1976, the general practitioner Bertil Flöistrup created the book PM Praktisk Medicin. Later in the 1990s, general practitioners Mikael Sahlqvist, Lars-Olof Medin and Olle Lyngstam took over and have updated and built on both the book and started the website PraktiskMedicin.se. From 2017, Add Health Media has taken over the baton to continue to develop and update Praktisk Medicin. The PM book 2021 is the 29th edition since 1976.
